Jurgen Gorg
Syd Entel Galleries is proud to present the work of Jurgen Gorg. The lines
are classical, the themes are timeless but the interpretations are
contemporary.
As in graphic fairy tales, the sensuous young lovers, dancers, musicians,
and masked figures are constantly in motion. He transfers this erotic body
language to paper, canvas, stone or metal with academic precision and
often in monochromatic tones.
For his canvas originals, he juxtaposes graphite drawings with layers of oil
paint, and uses bright colors sparingly.
For the viewer, the captivating images are a kind of improvisational jazz
and an invitation to the dance. "Music is a part of me and central to my
work," explains Gorg.
Born in 1951 in Dembach, West Germany, he spent his boyhood years in
Koblenz. As a college student at the Johannes-Gutenberg University in
Mainz, he received rigorous training in art studio courses and art history.
It was there that he received his Master in Fine Art. Gorg also gained his
teaching license, enabling him to teach in Germany. Gorg's paintings,
drawings, graphic works and sculptures are widely exhibited throughout
Germany, Switzerland, England and Japan.
